My mind is a doorway, 

Doorway to my own peace..

To keep it working & in good use, 

I keep it guarded & well-greased.

Thoughts try to breeze in & out,

 At times pounding on my door,

I open it for some things, 

Others I choose to ignore.

I don't want to explain myself, 

Make excuses or justify,

I have played this game enough, 

I know it takes two, to make things fly.

I want to be available, loving & kind,

But what good will I be for you,

If I get drenched in your blood,

And become frustrated, lost & blind. 

Even among duty, demand & loud noise,

I can choose to preserve my inner poise.
