About the Event

Big Band emerged in the roaring 1920s, bringing in the blues and jazz from New Orleans, Chicago and Kansas City.

Led by visionary bandleaders such as Duke Ellington, Count Basie, and Glenn Miller, Big Band brought jazz to the forefront of popular music.

It was a musical revolution that brought together large ensembles of musicians, playing a variety of instruments, including saxophones, trumpets, trombones, a rhythm section, and vocals creating a sound that was both sophisticated and energetic.

Moreover, Big Band provided a platform for instrumental virtuosity, with soloists showcasing their improvisational skills and adding personal flair to the ensemble performances.

On Sunday, 23rd July Mr. Munir Mohanty will be hosting a #JazzKissa at Skinny Mo's Jazz Club showcasing a curated selection of saxophone giants from the Big Band era. Don't miss!
