About the Event

Kedarkantha is a classic trek. The trek provides a great opportunity for trekkers see the scenic beauty and experience the life of remote villages of Garhwal Himalayas. Kedarkantha Trek lies in the Govind Wildlife Sanctuary and National Park in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. The drive to Sankri (From where the Kedarkantha trek starts) is one of the most picturesque drives in the Himalayas through Mussoorie, Purola, Mori, Netwar, Motwat along the Tons River Kedarkantha trek is one the easiest treks in the Himalayas to enjoy the thick snow cover. The Kedarkantha trek campsite is great for birding and surrounded by beautiful snow peaks.

The trek requires you to report at Dehradun on 5 Jan 2024 and you will be dropped back in evening at Dehradun on 9 Jan 2024. 


Itinerary

Day 01 : Dehradun – Sankri (210 kms / 8hrs )

Arrival at Dehradun Railway Station assistance followed by transfer to Sankri. En-route breakfast and Lunch. Arrive Sankri by late afternoon. We will stay here in Alpine Tents / hotel/ Guest House. An evening orientation works around the village for acclimatization.

Altitude: 1950 meters from ASL

Day 02 : Sankri – Juda Ka Talab (4 kms)

After having our breakfast and we start the trek around 8 AM for our next camp Juda Ka Talab. We will camp beside the small pond surrounded by Pine and Oak trees. One can have beautiful views of snow clad peaks from Juda Ka Talab. Overnight at camp.

Altitude: 2780 meters from ASL

 Day 03 : Juda Ka Talab to Kedarkantha Base (6 kms) 

Get up early morning to see the golden glow of snow clad peaks. Post breakfast start the trek to Kedarkantha Peak base which takes around 4 hrs to reach Kedarkantha Peak base. Enjoy a hot lunch and explore the area.

Altitude: 3100 meters from ASL

Day 04 : Kedarkantha Base to Summit to Kedarkantha Base to Hargaon (6 kms) 

Get up early morning while it is still pitch dark and. Post tea start the trek to Kedarkantha Peak to see the golden glow of snow clad peaks at the time of Sunrise. Click some memorable pictures and return to Basecamp, Post Lunch descend to Jainola / Juda Ka Talab or Hargaon campsite.

Altitude: 3810 meters from ASL at Summit

Day 05 : Campsite – Sankri (4 kms) – Dehradun ( 210kms / 8hrs)

Trek down from Kedarkantha Base to Sankri via Hargaon on well marked trail of stones. Trek down through thick forest of Pine and Maple trees and at some places you will have open views of beautiful Har Ki Dun valley. Drive back to Dehradun to catch your train to Delhi with kaleidoscopic memories of the Kedarkantha Trek. Our trek ends here




Instructions

Accommodations: Although homestays only offer modest comfort, they provide a fascinating window into local life. Since there is no running water in homestays, showering is not an option.

While on trek we all will be accommodated in tents on two (or three) sharing. The sleeping bags suitable for weather and temperature will be available at each camp site.  


Networks:

At Sankari village, BSNL and Jio works, the network may not be available on trek.
