Mandolin Sisters: Sreeusha and Sireesha

Encouraged by their visionary parents, Sreeusha and Sireesha are the only sisters in India to play the mandolin in Carnatic music. Starting at age five, they were inspired by their father’s guitar playing and soon transitioned to the mandolin under his guidance.

Initially trained by their father and Vidwan Sri Rudraraju Subbaraju, and later by Vidwan Sri Sengalipurm S.V. Ramamurthy Iyer, the sisters have largely taught themselves to harmonize the mandolin with Carnatic music. Their dedication has led them to perform over 3,500 concerts worldwide, including in Singapore, Muscat, and various European countries. Their performances have been praised by leading newspapers and featured on multiple TV channels.
