Meepao is a contemporary dance performance from Manipur that transforms simple steps into a shared ritual. Dancers orbit a central bamboo, carving out their own paths while moving together in rhythm, accompanied by music. Rooted in the reality of Manipur’s many cultures and contested identities, the work becomes a living metaphor for harmony: distinct bodies negotiating space without disruption, sustaining balance through repetition and relation. As the dance deepens, it enters a space where the 'mee' (the living) carry a 'pao' (a message) of coexistence. Minimal yet resonant, Meepao invites audiences to witness how diversity itself can hold us together.
