Jagala is a story of a young Muslim man named Chekku who lived in Eranad during the Mappila Rebellion era of 1920s. His job was to bring food (porridge and fish) from big Muslim families to Chiyan Musliar who was a teacher at Othupalli. Chekku's only source of food was when someone gave him some porridge out of sympathy. Kunjanju was his childhood friend and lover who also happened to be Ossan Kunjalavi's daughter. Though she was in deep love with him, he didn't pay heed to it because his prime aim was to satisfy his hungry stomach
