Set in the 1960s, a young girl named Pournami is expected to perform a sacred dance ritual that her ancestors have carried out every twelve years to bring rain. She disappears just before the festival, and later her sister Chandrakala steps in to take her place. As the ritual day approaches, family secrets tied to their past are revealed.
