About the Event

In a world ruled by digital convenience, the return of vinyl has been heartening. For the 15th consecutive year, global vinyl sales have grown—reaching nearly 5.5 million units. At the centre of this resurgence is Record Store Day.

Founded in 2007 by independent record store owners in the U.S.—including Chris Brown (Bull Moose Music), Eric Levan (Criminal Music), and Michael Kurtz—Record Store Day began as a way to spotlight the culture, community, and value of independent record stores. What started with a small meeting in Baltimore quickly grew into a global phenomenon.

Today, RSD is celebrated in over a dozen countries, with exclusive releases, artist appearances, and in-store events that draw collectors, casual listeners, and curious newcomers alike.

Held every year in April and again on Black Friday in November, RSD has helped re-establish records as a way of listening that prioritises presence, sound, and physical connection. As digital consumption continues to grow, RSD serves as a powerful counterpoint, reminding people that music can be something you hold, cherish, and experience in person.

RSD has helped many independent stores stay afloat in a challenging retail landscape. By championing physical formats and in-person discovery, it reinforces the importance of local, community-driven commerce in a globalised digital economy.

India became part of this global celebration in 2017, when The Revolver Club hosted the country’s first official Record Store Day in Mumbai. Since then, we’ve celebrated it every year—with thousands of new albums, new audiences, and their growing support.

TRC’s listening sessions over the years and across cities continue to introduce so many to new music—and to each other.

This growing community of music aficionados remains at the heart of our journey—and the revival of vinyl in India.

As we celebrate yet another edition of Record Store Day, we remain excited about introducing the joy of analogue to millions more.

See you.
