It is 150-200 feet (60 to 70 meters long), 500 feet in circumference, and 40 to 50 meters deep green-blue oval ( eye ) lake in the lap of Trishuli peak (24000 feet). Roopkund Lake is a clean and calm beautiful lake.

The Rupganga stream flows from it. This lake is very popular for its charming shade is the mysterious ancient hell, bones, various tools, clothes, jewellery, utensils, slippers, bones of horses, etc. found around the lake.

This lake is located near Bedni Bugyal in the Chamoli district near Bageshwar in Uttarakhand. Mt. Trishul has three peaks and these peaks are located on the border of the Chamoli district of the Garhwal region and Bageshwar district of the Kumaon region.

Roopkund Lake is at an altitude of 4600 meters above sea level and the foothills of the Nandaghunti peak, it is always covered with snow. This is the reason, it is also known as 'Himani Lake'. 

How to reach Roopkud Lake and Bedni Bugyal?

To reach Roopkund Lake you need to first visit Kathgodam in Uttarakhand. After reaching Kathgodam you can take shared taxis to reach Lohajung.​
