Akar Productions presents - Urban Folk Project’s Yellamma & Other Stories

This performance unravels the story of Princess Renuka and her journey to becoming Goddess Yellamma. The story is told through narrative and timeless Kannada folk songs from different regions within Karnataka. Yellamma’s story traces the collective histories of a community, and their trials and tribulations that echo from our past, celebrating sisterhood, motherhood, liberation, duty, and a quest for defining one’s identity.
