Jon Watts, Guy Busick and Lori Evans Taylor's story is fantastic. Guy Busick and Lori Evans Taylor's screenplay is creative and thankfully, the narrative structure is different from the other FINAL DESTINATION films. The dialogues add to the tension and also the laughter.

Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein's direction is worthy. All the previous installments of the series followed a set pattern and hence, it became repetitive as one knew where the film was heading. FINAL DESTINATION BLOODLINES breaks that pattern. One would be intrigued to know where the film is going and some scenes would give viewers a jolt. This time, the humour quotient is also quite prominent and adds to the madness. What is also striking in this film is that the effects and the eeriness are top-class. The manner in which the Sky View Tower sequence has been filmed is terrifying. The tattoo shop and hospital scenes are also memorable.

On the flipside, the concept of how Death is coming after people and their offspring is a bit far-fetched and convenient. It is interesting how a character cheated death for years, but not much information was given on the same as to how she did it exactly. Although the film is largely unpredictable, the final scene doesn't have any element of surprise. It makes for a fun watch; however, those who have seen the previous parts will know where the film is going at this point.
Kaitlyn Santa Juana plays the leading role with conviction. Brec Bassinger, in a supporting role, leaves the maximum impact. Special mention should also go to Gabrielle Rose (also plays the role of Iris). Teo Briones delivers a fine performance. Richard Harmon steals the show; his scenes in the second half are very exciting and will be lapped up by the audience. Alex Zahara is lovely, especially in the barbecue scene. Owen Patrick Joyner, meanwhile, is impressive because of the hospital scene and the sequence before that. Max Lloyd-Jones, Tinpo Lee, Rya Kihlstedt and Anna Lore are decent. The late Tony Todd (William Bludworth) is damn good while Jayden Oniah (little kid in the Sky View Tower) and Travis Turner (elevator operator) do well. Lastly, Noah Bromley (Penny kid) rocks the show and his scene will get a roaring response in cinemas.
On the whole, FINAL DESTINATION BLOODLINES is a ‘killer’ entertainer and takes the series to another level. At the box office, it is expected to start slow and would also face the heat from the bigger release of the week - MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – THE FINAL RECKONING. But it has the potential to grow and have a long, steady run at the box office. With its creatively gruesome deaths and shock-a-minute storytelling, this is the kind of edge-of-the-seat experience best enjoyed in a packed cinema — surrounded by gasps, shrieks, and wild applause from the audience!

When it comes to horror franchises that keep digging fresh graves, Final Destination still leads the pack. Built on a chillingly simple premise — you can never outrun death. It returns after 14 years with its sixth installment, Final Destination: Bloodlines. This time, directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein, along with writers Guy Busick and Lori Evans Taylor, don’t try to rewrite fate, they simply give it a sharp new edge.

Told through the eyes of Stephanie (Kaitlyn Santa Juana), a high school student plagued by disturbing dreams of her grandmother Iris (Gabrielle Rose), the story takes us back to 1968 — when a premonition saved lives at the grand opening of the Skyview Restaurant. But as always, there’s a deadly catch. In this world, survival only delays the inevitable. “Death doesn’t like to be cheated,” as Iris warns — and it’s a promise the film keeps with gory precision.

The tension lies not in the if, but the when and more importantly, how. The film plays beautifully on this anticipation, as Stephanie’s interference puts her entire bloodline in death’s crosshairs. As a viewer, you’re morbidly hooked, watching ordinary moments turn into ticking time bombs.

While the tone is a little more campy this time, it surprisingly works. There’s dark humour sprinkled between the blood splatters, adding a bit of bite to the brutality. Among the cast, Erik (Richard Harmon) stands out. His tattoos and piercings offer a twisted canvas for maximum pain. But does he meet his fate? That’s for viewers to find out.

The background score is loud but mostly in sync with the chaos. Each kill is creatively set up, rooted in everyday life — a franchise staple that remains strong. One moment it’s a ceiling fan, the next, a stray bolt. Everyday life has never felt more lethal.

Technically, the film holds up well. Christian Sebaldt’s cinematography captures the eerie nostalgia of the 1960s and the cold dread of the present. Rachel O’Toole’s production design keeps everything grounded, making the terror feel real. The visual effects are mostly solid, though the climax leans a bit too far into spectacle, stretching logic more than necessary.

Still, Final Destination: Bloodlines doesn’t just follow the rules, it respects the roots. For longtime fans, it brings back the fear, the fun, and that familiar feeling that no one and nothing is safe. It’s sharp, spooky, and quite frankly…to die for.

The first film gave you the chills. Anyone who has watched the first 'Final Destination' can tell that boarding a flight or driving on an open expressway was never the same after watching the gruesome ways one could encounter death. So, after 14 years of initiation, the 2025 release - 'Bloodlines' attempts to give the original franchise a modern-day setting. Chainsaws and hammers make way for a series of innovative ways to face death.
Directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein, 'Bloodlines' has a pretty solid start. We rewind back to the 1960s where a futuristic sky-high restaurant serves as the opening tile for a blood-soaked mosaic to follow once the story moves to the present day. The idea of people dying on a skyscraper built to showcase the future of mankind is terrifyingly scary.

'Bloodlines', like its name, refers to the family tree that is cursed following the events on the high-rise tower. Escaping and cheating death is a common theme throughout all these films, but where the latest offering shines is in its ability to spring a surprise when least expected. The protagonist here is Stefani Reyes (Kaitlyn Santa Juana), the granddaughter of Iris (Gabrielle Rose). Stefani keeps getting dreams and visions of the deadly tower, which sets the ball rolling for the bloodline curse.
Now, several decades later, Stefani has to start warning her family members of the impending doom. But will they believe her? For someone who has erratic visions and dreams about death, no one actually takes her seriously. Till, take a guess! The first big death scene unfolds!

What sets 'Bloodlines' apart from the previous films and its plots is the fact that, in this timeline, death is not forgiving. If you thought that the makers wanted to intellectualise death and perhaps go soft on it, then you are mistaken. There is ample carnage here to keep you satiated. One scene in particular that involves someone with piercings near an MRI machine is quite explosive! No pun intended.

Despite the expected twists and turns, where the film sometimes falters is in its ability to add some reasoning to the way the events unfold. Performances are in sync with the grim setting of the storyline. Alex Zahara, Richard Harmon, Anna Lore and Owen Patrick Joyner play the family members who face the inevitable doom. It’s clear from the onset that what you are in for the span of 140 odd minutes are just new creative ways to meet your death. Some of the subplots feel gimmicky. Unlike the solid premise of the first few films, 'Bloodlines' is a one-trick-pony that tries to do more of the same.

Despite the hiccups, the film is enjoyable, has ample scares and some corny bits thrown in between. This dance of death is utterly satisfying.

They say you never forget your first Final Destination. Maybe it's the image of that doomed Flight 180 tearing itself apart in the sky. Or that logging truck sequence that permanently altered how we follow vehicles on the highway. 

The franchise, for all its formulaic inevitability, has always understood one thing: death, when delayed, demands flair. 

After a 14-year hiatus, Final Destination: Bloodlines doesn't just dust off the old playbook - it sets it on fire, dances on the ashes, and serves up a glossy, gory, generational curse with a side of stylish mayhem.

Directed by Freaks duo Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, Bloodlines opens with what is arguably the franchise's most operatic set piece to date. 

We're in the 1960s, and the Skyview - a glittering, space needle-like skyscraper - is hosting its opening night. Jazzed-up patrons twirl to The Isley Brothers' Shout, champagne flutes clink, and a stolen coin tossed into a wishing fountain sets off a Rube Goldberg chain of doom that spirals from flambeed entrees to shattering glass floors. 
At the centre of it all is Iris (Brec Bassinger), whose premonition - vivid, visceral and just in time - saves several lives. Or so it seems.

Cut to the present. College student Stefani Reyes (Kaitlyn Santa Juana) is being haunted by relentless nightmares of the Skyview disaster. 

With her academic life teetering and no plausible explanation for the specificity of her visions, Stefani returns home to dig into the mystery. Her search leads her to the revelation that Iris was her grandmother - a woman whose moment of clairvoyance half a century ago set off a butterfly effect of trauma, tragedy and now, a lethal inheritance. 

Because in this sixth instalment, death isn't just following survivors - it's hunting down bloodlines. A skipped death doesn't just put you in the crosshairs. It puts your future generations on a hit list.

Stefani's family, of course, doesn't immediately buy into her premonitions. Her mother Darlene (Rya Kihlstedt), frosty and haunted, prefers silence to stories. 

Her cousins - Erik (Richard Harmon, smarmy but likeable), Julia (Anna Lore), and Bobby (Owen Patrick Joyner) - fall somewhere between scepticism and alarm. 

Only her younger brother Charlie (Teo Briones) is truly in her corner. But belief is a luxury few can afford when the deaths start stacking up in classic Final Destination style - elaborate, gruesome and infuriatingly clever.

This time, though, there's a real sense of craft behind the carnage. The MRI scene - a standout - manages to be both darkly hilarious and absolutely horrific, thanks to a pierced victim and a magnetically fatal attraction. 

A garbage truck sequence and some well-placed ceiling fan suspense feel like knowing winks to longtime fans. Lipovsky and Stein understand the series's choreography - it's not just about the kill, it's the anticipation. 

The camera lingers, the score teases and your eyes scan the frame for every possible death cue, only to be wrong, wrong again, and then violently, spectacularly right.

What sets Bloodlines apart is its willingness to lean into pathos without losing its playfulness. The focus on family, not just a random gaggle of teens, brings stakes that aren't just physical but emotional. 

The film touches, however lightly, on inherited trauma, the burden of survival and generational guilt. Stefani, as played by Santa Juana, is more than just a scream queen - she's frazzled, determined, and grounded in a way that feels rare for this franchise. 

Gabrielle Rose, as the now elderly Iris, is quietly heartbreaking, living in self-imposed exile and still under death's shadow decades later.

And then there's William Bludworth. Tony Todd's ever-creepy mortician returns one last time, visibly frail but magnetically eerie, offering the franchise's final philosophical nugget before departing for good. 

His farewell - reportedly improvised - lends the film its only truly reflective note. Not preachy, just personal. Fitting, really, for a character who's always known more than he let on.

Still, Bloodlines never forgets what it's here to do. It's a high-octane horror rollercoaster with zero patience for subtlety and maximum commitment to chaos. 

Yes, some subplots veer into the gimmicky. Yes, the third act leans hard into lore-dump territory. But when you're juggling ricocheting coins, collapsing towers, deadly household appliances and exploding body parts, a little mess is part of the fun.

It's also a film that knows its history. From visual callbacks - buses, logs, tanning beds - to a score that teases familiar themes, Bloodlines is steeped in its own mythology without being suffocated by it. 

Screenwriters Guy Busick and Lori Evans Taylor, working from a story by Jon Watts, strike a surprisingly deft balance between fan service and franchise reinvention. There's a knowingness here, a refusal to take things too seriously, that makes every ridiculous death feel like a punchline and a payoff.

Final Destination: Bloodlines is not elevated horror. It doesn't want to be. It's a popcorn-drenched, viscera-slicked ballet of doom that remembers exactly why you fell in love with the franchise in the first place. It's brutal, bonkers, and - against all odds - kind of brilliant. The Reaper, it turns out, just needed a little R&R (rest and recuperation). Welcome back.
