Puneet Krishna's story is impressive and organically fits into the MIRZAPUR universe. Puneet Krishna's screenplay is very captivating and peppered with strong confrontational and action sequences. However, the writing in the middle of the second half leaves a lot to be desired. Puneet Krishna's dialogues are one of the highlights. A few one-liners are sure to be lapped up by the masses and could also go viral on social media.

Gurmmeet Singh's direction is mass-appealing. MIRZAPUR THE MOVIE is a unique experiment as it takes a popular web-series universe to the big screen. Moreover, it is not a continuation of the most recent season that dropped digitally. Instead, its story is set between Episodes 6 and 7 of the first season. This is a challenging proposition since the developments in the film cannot contradict or affect what happens subsequently in the series. In this regard, the writer emerges victorious, while Gurmmeet Singh also ensures that the continuity and essence of the MIRZAPUR universe remain intact. The film has a runtime of more than three hours, and yet, one doesn't get bored even for a moment. The action sequences may not be in abundance, but the film compensates with several powerful dramatic face-offs that elevate the impact. Some of the scenes that leave a mark are Guddu’s tu-tu main-main with his father while his mother tries on the woollen clothes, Guddu and Munna’s encounter at the salon, Babban’s argument with Vasudha Pandit (Sheeba Chaddha) and Guddu’s first meeting with Babban. However, the scene that takes the cake is the one in which Munna admonishes J P Yadav. It is sure to create a frenzy among the masses. The finale, too, is bound to get a roaring response in cinemas.

On the flipside, the film gets a bit stretched in the post-interval portions, while the romantic sequences feel forced. In fact, except for Beena Tripathi (Rasika Dugal) and Mumtaz Bibi (Sonal Chauhan), the rest of the actresses don’t have much to do. Babban’s decision to eliminate Kaleen Bhaiyya also seems unconvincing, as he doesn’t have a strong enough motive to take such an extreme step. Moreover, the film is predictable because, as mentioned earlier, it is set in the middle of the first season. Hence, one is already aware of the fate of several characters. As a result, a crucial scene in which a character’s heart stops beating has limited impact since the viewer knows that the character will survive.
Mirzapur The Movie Review Performances:
Pankaj Tripathi delivers a supreme performance. Right from the first sequence, he ensures one forgets his light-hearted and comic avatars and sees him as the King of Mirzapur. Ali Fazal is terrific in his massiest performance to date. He plays to the gallery perfectly without going overboard. Divyenndu, too, puts his best foot forward and ensures that viewers get their money’s worth. Apart from his massy scenes, his emotional portion in the beginning also stands out. Jitendra Kumar had a big responsibility as he’s replacing Vikrant Massey. But he manages to effortlessly slip into the character. Ravi Kishan is too good. His fan following has gone through the roof lately and thankfully, the makers here have done full justice to his character, especially in the finale. Pramod Pathak, Sheeba Chaddha and Rasika Dugal have limited screen time, but they leave a tremendous mark. Sonal Chauhan looks stunning and delivers a fair performance; an actress who deserves to be seen more. Abhishek Banerjee (Subodh aka Compunder), Kulbhushan Kharbanda (Satyanand Tripathi), Shaji Choudhary (Maqbool) and Anangsha Biswas (Zarina) lend able support. Shweta Tripathi (Golu) and Shriya Pilgaonkar (Sweety) are impressive. Sadly, they don’t have much to do. Harshita Gaur (Dimpy) is wasted. Sushant Singh (Bhairav Singh Karnawat) and Rajesh Tailang (Ramakant Pandit) are dependable. Mohitt Maalik (Birju Lohar) delivers a decent performance. Satendra Soni (Chandu Puncture) is entertaining and the surprise of the film.

Mirzapur The Movie music and other technical aspects:
The songs don’t register at all. 'Ghoom Ghoom' is the best of the lot, more due to the picturization and placement. 'Vaaroon Forever', 'Do Numbari', 'Sanson Ki Mala' and 'Vindhyvasini Ki Jao Ho' are average. John Stewart Eduri's background score is much better and enhances the impact of several scenes.

Sanjay Kapoor's cinematography is top-notch and lends the film a grandeur that surpasses the web series, giving it the much-needed cinematic feel. Amin Khatib's action is gory, and it works well for the film in this zone. Sonam Singh and Abhijit Gaonkar's production design is classy, while Darshan Jalan and Neelanchal Ghosh's costumes are realistic yet stylish. Manan Ashwin Mehta's editing is functional but could have been sharper in some scenes.

Mirzapur The Movie Review Conclusion:
On the whole, MIRZAPUR THE MOVIE is a paisa-vasool big-screen entertainer that successfully transports the much-loved world of MIRZAPUR from OTT to cinemas. The powerhouse performances, whistle-worthy dialogues, gripping confrontations, massy moments and a rousing finale compensate for the stretched portions and predictable nature of the narrative. The film has opened strongly at the box office and is on course to enter the Rs. 100 crore club over the opening weekend. With Rs. 200 crore well within reach, its strong audience response and franchise value could translate into a major theatrical success.



The film has moved from OTT to theatres with a parallel story set alongside season one. The film revives key characters and delivers familiar chaos, though its scale proves overindulgent.
The goli is back and so are the gaalis... the greed, the dhoka, the dysfunctional families and, of course, the bhaukaal. After three successful seasons on OTT, Mirzapur has finally arrived on the big screen. And if you were expecting the same old madness, just bigger and louder, the film does not disappoint. It is pulpy, dramatic, masaledaar and, for the most part, a damn fun watch. The only problem? It simply doesn’t know when to stop.Written by the original writer Puneet Krishna and directed by Gurmeet Singh, Mirzapur: The Movie takes an interesting route. It isn’t a sequel, a continuation or even a spin-off. It is a parallel story that runs alongside the events of Season one. Which means, yes, some very dead people are suddenly alive again. Sweety (Shriya Pilgaonkar), Munna (Divyendu Sharma), Bablu -- all are back. And this time, Bablu is played by Jeetendra Kumar, taking over from Vikrant Massey.

The throne of Mirzapur remains the ultimate prize because, as the show has repeatedly established, whoever sits on the throne of Mirzapur controls Purvanchal, and potentially can play a role in the country's politics. But beneath the guns and the power games, it is the relationships that make this universe tick. And nobody embodies that better than Guddu and Munna.
Ali Fazal and Divyendu Sharma slip back into their characters like they never left. Their rivalry remains one of the film’s biggest strengths because Guddu and Munna are essentially two sides of the same coin. Both are impulsive, hot-headed, want power, and, more importantly, both are constantly chasing the validation of their fathers. There is also love, jealousy, insecurity and that eternal need to defeat each other.

Guddu, meanwhile, is still the human equivalent of a gym bro who flaunts his bulky body and survives on protein shakes. The steroid-pumping bull is back, charging into situations with his muscles long before his brain gets a chance to catch up. And standing beside him is Bablu, the exact opposite. If Guddu is the muscle, Bablu is the brain -- the younger brother who can actually read a room, understand people and figure out how to get them out of trouble.

Then there is Ravi Kishan, making an entry with as much swag as his recent viral video, and immediately adds some much-needed spark. He is fabulous as a villain with a romantic side. This is a man who can pick up a gun and look every bit the macho bad guy, but can also sit down and stitch a blouse for his lady love (Sonal Chauhan).
Pankaj Tripathi, as always, needs very little to command attention. Kaleen Bhaiya remains the man who can threaten you without actually saying anything. A look, a pause, and his trademark head nod. And then there is Beena. Rasika Dugal finally gets more to do than simply being the show’s most sexualised character. Her arc here gives her greater agency and allows the character to breathe beyond the obvious. It is easily one of the film’s more satisfying additions. However, the other ladies -- Shriya, Shweta Tripathi and Harshika Gaur hardly have two scenes each.

The humour still lands, the action packs a punch, and the Rajasthan portions look particularly gorgeous. There is even room for romance amid all the bloodshed, giving the otherwise dark world a different shade. But here is where Mirzapur: The Movie loses its grip. The makers are so invested in preserving the show’s complicated relationships, layered characters and multiple storylines that they forget one small thing: this is a film, not a 10-episode season. There is simply too much going on.
The long-form storytelling that worked beautifully on OTT doesn’t always translate to the big screen. In a theatre, you want the drama to move. You want the tension to build and explode. This needed a tighter script, and obviously better editing. There are so many scenes, including one car chase towards the end, that seem absolutely forced.
Thankfully, the masala keeps you going. The music is fun, the rap tracks add to the swagger, and yes, Vaaroon makes a comeback, while Sanson Ki Mala adds a soft touch to the ending. The dialogues are also very much in OG Mirzapur territory. Even Guddu’s mother gets her own SRK moment with the rather dramatic “bete se pehle maa pe goli chalana” line. And then comes the climax-- easily one of the film’s biggest crowd-pleasers.

So, does Mirzapur: The Movie work? Yes. Did it need to be more than three hours long? Absolutely not.

Mirzapur: The Movie expands on the existing lore of the series and is set between Episodes 6 and 7 of Season 1. The clear intention is to give the lucrative intellectual property created by Excel Entertainment and Amazon MGM a theatrical outing. At the heart of the film is Babban Babua Yadav (Ravi Kishan), who circles closer to Kaleen Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi) under the cover of a business deal while clearly eyeing the gaddi of Mirzapur for himself.

There is genuine pleasure in seeing the familiar faces again. Kaleen Bhaiya still owns every frame with that quiet, terrifying calm. Munna (Divyenndu) storms in with the same restless fire that made him a favourite. Guddu Pandit (Ali Fazal) brings raw hunger, while Bablu (Jitendra Kumar) steps into the role cleanly enough, even if it is Vikrant Massey’s version of the character that stays in your head.
Golu (Shweta Tripathi), Sweety (Shriya Pilgaonkar), Compounder (Abhishek Banerjee) and Beena (Rasika Dugal) settle back into the world we know, though most of them are reduced to fleeting or low-impact appearances, regardless of how fun and exciting they make the proceedings whenever they are on screen. While Ravi Kishan as Babban Babua Yadav is the one who really raises the temperature and walks in with proper weight and menace, his on-screen love interest Mumtaz Bibi (Sonal Chauhan) is barely used and ends up with almost nothing of consequence.

The dark comedy and sharp dialogues still do solid work. There are unexpected LOL moments that land perfectly in a theatre, especially one long stretch involving Kaleen Bhaiya, JP Yadav and Munna that had the hall cracking up. A car-chase sequence in the second half also stands out for the way the tension and banter bounce off each other.

The set pieces, however, lack the real scale and impact you hope for on the big screen. The story itself stays thin and the film runs long. Some stretches drag and the pacing dips in the middle before the last half-hour picks up again. It is the towering background score that makes up for the technical limitations.

The makers play it safe throughout. They lean hard on the familiar beats, the old energy, the violence and the nostalgia. It works as successful bait for fans who simply want to spend more time with these characters. You mostly get what you expect from a Mirzapur outing. Yet if you are hoping for something that matches the peak of the first two seasons, this is not it. The film never becomes a revelation the way Season 1 once felt. Knowing the eventual fate of a few characters also softens the intensity; you sit there aware that certain people are not going to meet a permanent end here, and that takes some of the edge away.
Overall, you walk out feeling it was a decent time at the movies for a fan, carried largely by nostalgia and the comfort of the characters. Measured against the first two seasons, it lands just about okay, but it is quite stronger than the third season. New viewers can still enjoy the world without knowing every detail, but the experience is clearly aimed at those who already care.

Stay for the post-credit scene. There is a clear signal that this is not the end and that more is coming. The material still breathes better in the longer OTT format. As a theatrical outing, it delivers enough of the old bhaukaal to justify the ticket if you love this chaotic universe, even if it never fully rises above being a safe, familiar companion piece.

This is IMPORTANT... #MirzapurTheMovie doesn't feel like a stretched-out episode of the series... IT FEELS LIKE A FILM – larger, louder, and far more cinematic, while retaining the raw flavour, attitude, and spirit that made the web series a phenomenon.

The biggest strength is the writing [Puneet Krishna] – sharp, crisp, and loaded with punchlines... Power struggles, revenge, betrayal, and emotions are woven together smartly, ensuring the narrative never loses its grip.

Every confrontation crackles with tension, every exchange carries attitude, and several dialogues are certain to find their way into conversations outside the cinema hall.

Director Gurmmeet Singh handles the material with confidence, striking the right balance between drama, action, humour, and emotion without diluting the core DNA of #Mirzapur.

Action has always been integral to the #Mirzapur universe and the action here is raw, brutal, and massy... The big-screen treatment adds scale, intensity, and impact, with several whistle-worthy moments.

There's not much scope for music here, and the few songs – including #SansonKiMala – are seamlessly woven into the narrative... The background score, however, is BEYOND OUTSTANDING – it not only elevates the impact of key moments, but takes the overall cinematic experience several notches higher.

Negatives? Yes, the film dips towards the beginning of the second half... But, thankfully, the entire pre-climax-to-climax stretch, shot against the breathtaking sand dunes of #Jaisalmer, leaves you completely awestruck.

The second half also feels slightly stretched and could've certainly benefitted from some trimming... That said, the ending between #GudduPandit [#AliFazal] and #MunnaTripathi [#Divyenndu] is hilarious – while also dropping a clear hint that the next chapter in the #Mirzapur universe is already on the cards.

The actors bring the swagger, menace, vulnerability and intensity that the #Mirzapur universe demands.

The film boasts a massive ensemble cast, and every performer leaves you thoroughly impressed with their impeccable work... #PankajTripathi [exceptional], #RaviKishan [outstanding], #AliFazal [fantastic], #Divyenndu [excellent], #JitendraKumar [superb], #AbhishekBanerjee [too good], #MohitMalik [first-rate], #RajeshTailang [wonderful], #PramodPathak [super], and #SushantSingh [flawless] – every actor gets his moments and leaves a lasting impression.

#RasikaDugal has an interesting part – and there's a twist – and she shines... #SonalChauhan does well, #SheebaChaddha is pitch-perfect as always, while #ShriyaPilgaonkar is competent.

Final word? Razor-sharp writing, killer dialogues, superb performances, high-voltage drama, and explosive action make this a treat for #Mirzapur fans – and a thoroughly engaging, crowd-pleasing ride even for those who haven't watched the series.
