Mudassar Aziz's story has all the trappings of a typical comic caper. Ravi Kumar and Mudassar Aziz's screenplay is peppered with several maddening moments that keep the interest going. However, the writing also has some loose ends. Mudassar Aziz's dialogues work but only in parts.

Mudassar Aziz's direction is commercial. In PATI PATNI AUR WOH [2019], the protagonist was stuck between two women. In the second part, the protagonist is trapped between his wife and two ‘girlfriends’. This is a film consisting of madcap characters and loads of misunderstandings. Yet, the film never gets confusing. The way Prajapati lands in a spot and the way the misunderstandings crop up make for an amusing watch. A few supporting characters, like the bua (Ayesha Raza), seem unwanted at first, but they add to the madness nicely. The climax consists of all the character assembling at one place amid chaos and it’ll be lapped up by those who appreciate this kind of humour.

On the flipside, several one-liners, though witty, don’t land as intended. The writers have cleverly devised several situations to create misunderstandings and chaos in Prajapati’s life. For instance, the reason why the husband is unable to tell the truth to his wife about Chanchal is smart and adds a nice touch. However, it is bewildering why Gajraj doesn’t straightaway confront his son and ask him about his girlfriend. Instead, he makes his men follow multiple women throughout the day. Also, a scandal of this sort should have caused political turmoil, but nothing of that sort happens. Songs are forcefully added and so is the effeminate character of Abhishek Sonpaliya (Jumman).
Pati Patni Aur Woh Do Movie Review Performances:
Ayushmann Khurrana is in good form; however, in a few scenes, he goes a bit overboard and should have kept his act controlled. Wamiqa Gabbi has a much better role than her previous outing, BHOOTH BANGLA, and adds to the entertainment quotient. Rakul Preet Singh puts up a confident act. Sara Ali Khan keeps her act restrained and is decent. Tigmanshu Dhulia is apt as the villain. Durgesh Kumar (Mahinder), Guneet Singh (Surinder) and Vijay Raaz (Dharamveer Singh) play entertaining parts with panache. Ayesha Raza is over-the-top. She gets on her nerves initially, but in the climax, her performance works. Deepika Amin (Bhavna Trivedi) is fair, while Shireesh Sharma (Ashok Trivedi; judge) is wasted. Abhishek Sonpaliya is okay. Vishal Vashishtha, Shashie Vermaa (D K Sharma; boss) and Santanu Kumar Panda (Moyo Room Receptionist) are fine in cameos.

Pati Patni Aur Woh Do movie music and other technical aspects:
Songs are weak. A film like this should have ideally had chartbuster songs to excite the public. 'Roop Di Rani' is the best of the lot, while 'Dil Waale Chor' and 'Angdayi' are forced. 'Humne Wahin Lagaya Dil' is played in the end credits.

Ketan Sodha's background score is typical. Jishnu Bhattacharjee's cinematography is satisfactory. Manini Mishra's production design is first-rate. Manish Malhotra, Aki Narula and Ipshita Bhatnagar's costumes are stylish, especially the ones worn by the actresses. Amar Shetty's action is minimal. Redchillies.vfx's VFX is appropriate, particularly in the scenes of the wild animals. Ninad Khanolkar's editing is slick.

Pati Patni Aur Woh Do Movie Review Conclusion:
On the whole, PATI PATNI AUR WOH DO is a decent commercial entertainer that works due to its plot and maddening climax. Its opening has been below par and it would need positive word of mouth from its target audience to make a mark at the box office.

Ayushmann Khurrana is a lethal actor when you give him the right mix of social drama, comedy, romance and awkward situations to play with. He takes charge of Pati Patni Aur Woh Do from the very first frame and never loosens his grip on the film. This is his playground, and he moves through it with the ease of someone who knows exactly what works for him - much like his character, Prajapati Pandey from Prayagraj.
The second instalment of the franchise, often criticised in the past for its misogyny, surprisingly steers away from all of that baggage. No woman here exists to be mocked, there is no glorification of infidelity, and the film avoids celebrating toxic masculinity. That itself comes as a pleasant surprise. And once that concern is out of the way, the film becomes easier to enjoy for what it really wants to be: a light-hearted entertainer with no larger ambition beyond making you have a decent time at the movies.

Prajapati is a forest officer living a comfortable life in Prayagraj with his wife Aparna, played by Wamiqa Gabbi. Aparna is a journalist who dreams of starting her own news channel someday. The two share a happy marriage and an easy chemistry. Their close friend Nilofar, played by Rakul Preet Singh, is constantly around, adding to the rhythm of their everyday lives.Prajapati is locally famous as the "leopard Casanova," and the film gives him a proper hero entry involving a leopard rescue operation in a village - dramatic enough to establish him as the lovable small-town hero the story needs. But things begin to shift when his old friend Chanchal Kumari, played by Sara Ali Khan, walks back into his life asking for help. From there, misunderstandings, emotional confusion and comic chaos begin to pile up, and the film keeps its energy alive even when the writing turns predictable.

What works most in Pati Patni Aur Woh Do is that it never behaves like it is trying to change society. Nobody is standing on your head delivering a moral science lecture. Nobody is insisting this is the story India desperately needs right now. The film belongs to a far easier category of cinema - something that you understand instantly, enjoy casually and forget comfortably after a few days.

There are glamorous songs, attractive actors, small-town chaos, relationship confusion and dramatic coincidences. Eventually, everything falls into place exactly the way you expect it to. No heavy emotional consequences, no deep introspection, no exhausting messaging. There is space for this kind of cinema too.
Not every film needs to carry the burden of social transformation. Sure, cinema can challenge us, reflect society and leave us with difficult questions at times. But if a film simply gives audiences two-and-a-half hours of comfort and laughter, that is also a valid job. Pati Patni Aur Woh Do is exactly that kind of film.

You will probably walk out of the theatre thinking you had a decent enough time. You will not feel like you witnessed something extraordinary, but you also will not feel cheated. And if you skip it altogether, you are not missing out on some major cultural conversation either. It is a classic one-time watch - easy, watchable and reasonably paisa vasool.

The performances understand the assignment perfectly. Nobody is trying too hard to overpower the film. The actors know the tone and stay within it. Their job is simple: look believable, maintain the humour, carry the accent and keep the momentum moving.
Wamiqa Gabbi seems far more in control here than in some of her louder recent performances (Bhool Chuk Maaf). She plays Aparna with restraint and warmth, never pushing too hard for dramatic moments. She fits naturally into the film's rhythm instead of disrupting it.
But ultimately, this is Ayushmann Khurrana's film. More importantly, it feels like his return to the space where he thrives the most. As Prajapati, he is as charming, relaxed and nonchalant as he was in films like Badhaai Ho and Bareilly Ki Barfi. He once again becomes the common man trapped in bizarre situations - the man whose misery becomes the audience's entertainment.

This is the version of Ayushmann that built his fandom in the first place. He is not chasing larger-than-life stardom here. He is not desperately manufacturing whistle-worthy moments. He simply trusts his natural strengths as a performer, and that confidence lifts the film in many places where the writing alone may not have been enough.
A strong supporting cast further adds flavour to the film's chaos. Ayesha Raza Mishra, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Durgesh Kumar and Vijay Raaz together become the perfect recipe for both humour and conflict. They understand the film's rhythm and keep the small-town madness alive without making it feel forced.

Ayesha stands out the most. She lights up almost every scene she appears in, especially in the second half, where her presence becomes increasingly entertaining. Playing the classic ladki ki bua archetype with just the right mix of drama, interference and comic timing, she often walks away with entire scenes without even trying too hard.

The film does stumble occasionally. Some jokes around homophobia feel outdated, a few stereotypes about small-town people remain unnecessary, and the endless songs sometimes feel inserted only to ensure every female character gets equal glamour treatment. But these flaws do not completely derail the experience, especially when the theatre around you is laughing and engaged.

Director Mudassar Aziz keeps things clean, simple and accessible. He does not attempt experimental storytelling or visual grandeur. The film knows exactly what it wants to be and sticks to it throughout.Pati Patni Aur Woh Do is not great cinema. It is not groundbreaking, unforgettable or emotionally layered. But it is enjoyable enough, consistently watchable and powered by an actor who has clearly returned to his strongest zone. That is enough for a casual Friday movie outing.

A chaotic caper. One pati. One patni. Two women for anti-climactic reasons. A garrulous aunt. A couple of characters that don’t make sense. Some jokes that land. Some mentions of homophobia, casteism and a social message about how rumours often get perceived as truth if repeated often enough. A leopard. A wolf. That, in essence, is Pati Patni Aur Woh Do.

It’s entertaining in some parts and utterly bizarre in others. Now, this is a world that doesn’t make sense. Why would an old classmate suddenly reappear in a married man’s life and seek his help to survive the next one week before she can flee overseas with her boyfriend? Why would that same man lie to his rather cool, understanding and liberal wife and pretend to be the classmate’s husband?
And when chaos inevitably ensues, why does he not confide in his co-worker who he also calls his best friend? How do this man and his make-believe girlfriend manage to survive a journey alongside a man-eating, wolf who accidentally lands up in his car? And why is there an effeminate office boy, who speaks with the theatrical flourish of Anarkali from Mughal-e-Azam? Well, this is Mudassar Aziz’s world.
You feel like he’s taking it too far with each passing twist in Pati Patni Aur Woh Do. But what helps this self-proclaimed comedy of errors stay afloat is the film’s unapologetic commitment to its own madness. It works best when you surrender to its wild, logic-defying energy and simply go along for the ride. Switch off your brains and embrace the chaos and you may not leave entirely disappointed.

Set in Prayagraj, Pati Patni Aur Woh Do opens with a hero-style entry for Prajapati Pandey, who’s introduced while attempting to capture a leopard that has strayed into town. Prajapati is a forest in-charge officer, who eventually traps the animal and dramatically tells him to ‘calm down’. His best friend, Nilofer, an animal tranquilisation expert, works alongside him.

At home, he shares a comfortable life with his wife Aparna, a journalist. Life in Prayagraj appears perfectly sorted until Chanchal enters the picture. An old classmate of Prajapati’s, she’s caught in the middle of a personal crisis. Wearing a burqa, she gets spotted crossing the road with her boyfriend, Sunny. His father, Gajaraj, is a politician, who staunchly opposes their union due to caste differences.
As Gajraj instructs his henchmen to identify the mysterious woman in the burqa, it’s revealed that Aparna’s the journalist behind leaking the photo. Gajraj promises Aparna that if she helps track the girl down, he’ll fund her own news channel. Meanwhile, Prajapati agrees to pose as Chanchal’s boyfriend to ensure that no suspicion falls upon her.

Naturally, confusion follows. Aparna begins suspecting that he’s involved in extramarital affairs with both Chanchal and Nilofer, who she also considers to be a close friend. Misunderstandings escalate to the point where Prajapati is believed to be a bisexual man engaged in another illicit relationship with Sunny. Thrown into this mix is Chanchal’s aunt, who can’t keep her lips sealed, and Dharamveer, a cop, determined to track Prajapati down.

At 1 hour and 57 minutes, Pati Patni Aur Woh Do is a like a ride at a local fare – nothing too snazzy and expensive but still fun, for the most part. And then there are the histrionics. This is a film that thrives on excess – excess pandemonium, excess coincidences, excess screaming, excess melodrama and, at times, excess confidence in its own absurdity.Nothing here is subtle. Characters don’t merely enter scenes, they burst into them. Emotions aren’t expressed, they’re announced at full volume. But it revels in its maximalism. Still, the film’s biggest strength is also its biggest weakness. It never knows when to stop. Every joke is stretched, every set-piece escalated and every emotion underlined twice over.

But perhaps that’s precisely the point. Pati Patni Aur Woh Do is the cinematic equivalent of a buffet plate piled dangerously high. It’s massy, messy, overwhelming, occasionally ridiculous but not entirely without flavour. The narrative embraces an old-school Bollywood sensibility with unabashed song-and-dance routines, elaborate dream sequences and larger-than-life physical comedy.

But along with the nostalgia also comes some outdated baggage, particularly in its stereotypical portrayal of a gay character, which feels disappointingly dated and reductive. But it’s a breezy affair, more or less, managing to keep you hooked after you take your own sweet time to become a part of Prajapati’s bizarre world. Having said that, this one’s not meant for all.
If you’re in the mood to let your hair down and blow off steam after biting your nails deciphering one too many tense whodunits, Pati Patni Aur Woh Do with all its airtight rationale may be a decent option. And credit lies where it’s due. Ayushmann Khurrana after Thamma is back to where he always belonged – a small-town simpleton dealing with a bunch of idiosyncratic characters – and he impresses.

He carries the film on his able shoulders, playing to the gallery with impressive abandon. At times helpless and at times hapless, he remains the man desperately trying to save the day while landing himself in greater trouble. The film proves that slapstick, ratting comedies are as much his forte as character-driven humour.

Wamiqa Gabbi thankfully gets significant screen time unlike her previous outing, Bhooth Bangla. She understands the assignment and is likeable as the loving and eventually frustrated wife. Mudassar appears fully aware of Sara Ali Khan’s penchant for exaggerated performances and crafts a character that allows her to operate comfortably within that space.

Rakul Preet Singh, however, stands out as a spinster, who through absolutely no fault of her own becomes entangled in Prajapati’s increasingly topsy-turvy existence. But the real show stealer is Ayesha Raza, who plays bua-ji with exaggerated quirks. She plays the chatterbox with an endearing lack of self-awareness. She’s loud and gloriously animated and plays the part with such conviction and odd charm that humour emerges effortlessly.

Vishal Vashishtha, Tigmanshu Dhulia and Vijay Raaz also deserve a mention. Pati Patni Aur Woh Do isn’t a flawless film but then again, it never pretends to be one. The makers commit to the madness with enough conviction to make much of it oddly enjoyable. At the heart of it is crackling chemistry between its ensemble, who collectively keeps the film buoyant even when the screenplay fumbles.

And mercifully, the wolf and the leopard here don’t look like patchy CGI inserts. Basically, on its own eccentric terms, Pati Patni Aur Woh Do largely succeeds in being delightfully entertaining, massy and frothy.

The biggest strength of Pati Patni Aur Woh Do lies in its dialogues. Sharp, witty and effortlessly funny, most one-liners land perfectly without feeling forced. The references to iconic songs and films from the ’90s and early 2000s add an extra layer of nostalgia that enhances the comic experience beautifully.

What also deserves appreciation is the fact that despite the title suggesting themes of infidelity or regressive humour, the film stays away from misogyny and cheap comedy. Mudassar Aziz handles the situational chaos smartly, ensuring the humour remains clean yet entertaining throughout.

Managing an ensemble cast in a film driven heavily by confusion and timing isn’t easy, but the screenplay keeps the momentum alive. The chase sequences, misunderstandings and character interactions are woven together in a way that keeps the narrative engaging once the film settles into its rhythm.
Ayushmann Khurrana is undoubtedly the soul of the film. As Prajapati Pandey, he brings effortless charm, impeccable comic timing and complete ease to the character. His ability to balance confusion, innocence and humour works brilliantly, and yes, uniforms continue to suit him exceptionally well.
Sara Ali Khan brings infectious energy and vibrance to the screen as Chanchal Kumari. She keeps the mood lively every time she appears, although the accent occasionally feels inconsistent.

Wamiqa Gabbi performs her part sincerely and shares a warm chemistry with Ayushmann. While her emotional beats work well, the dialect could have felt more rooted.

Rakul Preet Singh pleasantly surprises with a more confident and layered performance. She adds value to the narrative and holds her own amidst the chaos, though mastering the rustic flavour of the language remains slightly uneven.

Tigmanshu Dhulia, Vijay Raaz, Ayesha Raza, Durgesh Kumar, Guneet Singh and Vishal Vashishtha are exceptional. They are the perfect supporting ingredients that elevate the film’s humour and energy consistently.

Final Verdict:
Pati Patni Aur Woh Do is a laughter-filled rollercoaster powered by clever writing, situational chaos and entertaining performances. Mudassar Aziz deserves credit for crafting dialogues that consistently hit the mark while cleverly incorporating nostalgic film references.
I walked into the theatre sleep-deprived and with absolutely no expectations, but walked out smiling from ear to ear. If chaotic comedies and situational humour are your comfort genre, this one is likely to entertain you thoroughly.
