Late Neeraj Vora's story is crazy and a bhel puri of various films. The screenplay is a mixed bag. While a few scenes fall flat, some scenes manage to entertain big time. Farhad Samji's dialogues enhance the entertainment quotient.

Ahmed Khan’s direction is grand and he deserves credit for pulling off a film of this scale. This was no easy film to execute, not just because of the massive casting and grandeur, but also because it belongs to the brainrot zone, where the madness needs to be handled just right. One wrong move and the humour can fall flat. Thankfully, Ahmed largely succeeds. Of course, the viewer needs to be warned that logic takes a massive backseat here. The fact that the characters, who are part of a film unit, have no clue that they have landed in a terror-controlled zone adds to the chaos and madness. Another major plus is that several characters have distinct quirks, be it Nainsukh, Dubey, Badi Bi (Farida Jalal), Murad Chacha (Kiran Kumar) and others. Filmmakers nowadays often avoid such jokes, fearing backlash or trolling on social media. But the makers here take the irreverent and offensive humour route, and since viewers haven’t experienced this brand of comedy in a long time, it is sure to be lapped up. Along with humour, there’s also enough action to keep the interest going. And that’s not all. The film also has surprise characters who are sure to be greeted with claps and whistles.

On the flipside, a few film parallels are too obvious and unimaginative. For instance, the mute girl track instantly reminds one of BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN [2015]. The scene of Zatara having a merry time in his hideout also seems too similar to the ‘FA9LA’ track of DHURANDHAR [2025]. The Lara Dutta track, meanwhile, falls flat and weakens the first half considerably. A few characters also seem to have been forced into the narrative; remove them from the film and it would have made no difference. Lastly, the humour is such that a segment of the audience, especially those frequenting elite multiplexes, might frown upon it.
Welcome To The Jungle Movie Review Performances:
Akshay Kumar, as expected, is in top form. He’s in a league of his own when it comes to comedy and he proves it yet again. And like always, he excels in action as well. Suniel Shetty and Arshad Warsi brilliantly add to the madness. Disha Patani looks like a million bucks and performance-wise, she’s decent. However, she hardly has any dialogues. Jacqueline Fernandez gets to play a funny character and is quite good. Johny Lever, Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav and Shreyas Talpade are dependable as always. Jackie Shroff performs ably as the villain and the same goes for Vindu Dara Singh (Ghoni). Raveena Tandon (Zoya) leaves a huge mark. Lara Dutta (Teja) is very disappointing. Meanwhile, Farida Jalal and Kiran Kumar bring the house down and they are the surprise packages of the film. Tusshar Kapoor, Aftab Shivdasani (Abdullah) and Hemant Pandey (Kishan) are okay. Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, Mukesh Tiwari and Yashpal Sharma are wasted while Daler Mehndi delivers an embarrassing performance. Zakir Hussain is decent, but is forgotten completely after a point. Late Pankaj Dheer (Karan), Feroze Khan (Arjun) and Puneet Issar (Duryodhan) are entertaining. Urvashi Rautela (Dia), Sudesh Berry (Vikrant Singh) and Brijendra Kala are fair in small roles. Jeetu Verma (Dominic) leaves a mark in a cameo. Child actors Vrihi Kodvara (Urvi) and Bhagya Bhanushali (Bhagya) do well. Akshara Singh delivers an authentic performance in the Bhojpuri song.

Welcome To The Jungle movie music and other technical aspects:
From the songs, 'Deewane Hain' is the best of the lot. 'Ghis Ghis Ghis' will be well received, especially in the hinterland. 'Ucha Lamba Kad Forever' comes immediately after but is well picturized. 'Tera Paisa Mera Paisa' is placed in the end credits and is passable. Lastly, the placement of ‘Kyun’ is unexpected and unlike anything seen in a Hindi film! Hanif Shaikh's background score is well-woven into the narrative.

Kabir Lal's cinematography is spectacular. Abbas Ali Moghul's action is neither too gory nor does it involve characters flying; it's realistic and yet cinematic. FutureWorks' VFX is tacky. Shailesh Mahadik's production design is appropriate. Kunal Rawal, Anna Singh, Namita Alexander, Ami Patel, Sunakshi Rathod, Shakil Shetty, Priyanka Mundada, Harshita Ramchandani, Shahdab Malik and Trupti Doifode's costumes are rich. Nitin FCP's editing could have been sharper, especially in the second half.

On the whole, WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE is a madcap, no-holds-barred comic entertainer that works due to its brainrot humour, grand scale, massy moments and unexpected developments. The film is not for those seeking logic or subtlety. However, its unabashed madness and crowd-pleasing moments give it a strong chance to find favour in mass centres. At the box office, it can emerge as a wholesome entertainer for viewers looking for paisa-vasool fun.

Nadiadwala’s Welcome franchise and other movies have always thrived on absurdity, eccentric characters and chaotic humour. Welcome To The Jungle shifts away from the familiar urban setting of its predecessors and plunges into a chaotic jungle adventure. Bigger in scale and louder in ambition, the film blends slapstick comedy, action and nostalgia into a madcap entertainer that works in parts, even if it occasionally loses itself in its own chaos.
Drawing from the familiar comic sensibilities of the Welcome universe, this instalment introduces a bizarre yet amusing premise. In the 80s and 90s, black money being funnelled into films was often whispered about in industry circles. The film uses that idea as the foundation of its story. A corrupt politician (Zakir Hussain) decides to produce a 2000-crore film purely to incur losses and save tax. For this absurd mission, he ropes in directors Dev (Rajpal Yadav) and Dass (Paresh Rawal), tasking them with making a guaranteed flop.
What begins as a ridiculous filmmaking experiment soon spirals into something far more chaotic. Dev and Dass assemble a motley crew of quirky non-actors, washed-up performers and inexperienced technicians, all driven by the promise of quick money. Their journey takes them to a jungle near Azaadganj village, where misunderstandings, criminal threats and bizarre situations transform a fake film shoot into a real survival challenge.
At the centre is Rajeev (Akshay Kumar), a struggling actor desperate for a comeback after a streak of flops. His fortunes appear to change when he lands this unusual project. But things quickly go off track when the villagers mistake the film crew for actual soldiers and expect them to protect the village from a dangerous gang led by Jackie Shroff’s Zataara. This confusion becomes the film’s biggest source of comedy, with Rajeev repeatedly insisting that he is merely an actor, not a real-life hero.
The film heavily leans on nostalgia, and fans of the franchise will appreciate the callbacks. Suniel Shetty’s character is introduced as “Uday ka bhai” Anna, while Arshad Warsi enters as “Majnu ka bhai” Romeo. These references are clever crowd-pleasers that evoke fond memories of the earlier films. However, the absence of the iconic comic energy of Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor is strongly felt.
Thankfully, the comedy remains largely clean and situational rather than relying on forced vulgarity or loud gimmicks. Such tongue-in-cheek humour works well, adding to the film’s playful, chaotic energy.
That said, the film’s biggest issue is excess. The first half takes time to settle and feels overstretched. With such a massive cast, several characters feel unnecessary and add little beyond adding to the noise. The music also slows the pace, with only the reprised version of Uncha Lamba Kad leaving a lasting impression.
Performance-wise, Akshay Kumar is the film’s beating heart. He brings energy, comic timing and his trademark action-star charisma to the role. His ability to balance humour and action remains one of the film’s biggest assets. Remember Airplane, Disaster Movie and This Is The End? Hollywood has toyed with parodies and spoofs for decades. In Bollywood, what we get are self-aware tropes woven into mainstream comedies. And the latest to join the ranks of Quick Gun Murugun, Dhoondte Reh Jaoge and Phone Bhoot is Welcome To The Jungle.

The idea alone is what makes it, well, different. Taking the reins from Anees Bazmee is Ahmed Khan, who remains unapologetic about the tone of his film right from the word go. “Welcome welcome welcome, yaani teen baar welcome. Yeh hai Welcome 3," announces a character in the first scene. Over the next 2 hours 45 minutes, the title of the film gets repeated in public service, lest you forget!
The film revolves around a business tycoon, a Vijay Mallya lookalike, who decides to evade his tax-related crimes by putting together a Rs 2000 crore film. The catch? It should bomb upon release. His secretary Dubey and blonde daughter Jenny approaches flop director duo Dev and Das and visually challenged DoP Nayansukh to helm this film by bringing together a bunch of flop actors.

They rope in Rajiv, a has-been Bollywood star, who now works in Bhojpuri films. Jenny is set to play the female protagonist along with Nadia, Rajiv’s former lover superstar. Dev and Das are also forced to sign mafia dons Romeo and Anna (Uday Shetty and Majnu’s brothers) to avoid paying back the Rs 2.5 lakh they owe them. Two television stars, a Punjabi singer and two side characters also sign the film.

In a strange turn of events, these actors get caught up in a dangerous situation in Azadganj in PoK, which is often frequented by Mujahideen leader Zatara. In an even stranger climax sequence, they’re required to take on the roles of real army officials and fight Zatara and his gang to protect the village that’s filled with quirky characters, most of who speak unintelligibly.

Penned by late Neeraj Vora, Welcome To The Jungle stands out for its many meta jokes. In one of the funniest scenes, we see an emotional Zoya (played by Raveena Tandon), a resident of Azadganj, responsible for imparting the film its melodramatic quotient, telling Akshay Kumar’s Rajiv, ‘Kahan the tum bees saal se?’ On paper, it’s just another line in the screenplay.
But it plays more like a deliciously meta nod to their off-screen past, a reminder that after years, the two former lovers have found themselves sharing the frame in a film again. Akshay’s character being christened Rajiv in itself is a sly wink at his real name, Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia. In another scene, a character declares that Jacqueline Fernandes’ Jenny is present only to up the glamour quotient.

At yet another point, the first glimpse of Vindu Dara Singh’s character evokes a reaction, ‘Apne aap ko Dara Singh ka aulaat samajhta hai kya?’ These real-life references will make you crack up every now and then. And then comes the one-liners. No, they aren’t the cleverest ones. They appear more like WhatsApp dad jokes but the situation they’re hurled in keep the laughs coming.

This is a film that doesn’t make lofty promises. But what’s lofty is its scale. It’s peppered with vibrant visuals, expansive locations and lavish production design. Rather than holding back, it fully embraces its over-the-top comic universe, turning absurdity into one of its strengths. Ahmed’s vision of putting together a star-studded ensemble deserves a mention too.
However, Welcome To The Jungle comes with its own shortcomings. At 165 minutes, the film often starts testing your patience, particularly in the second half. Even though comedy continues to remain the heart of it, it gives way to action introducing a bunch of more characters. And it is this genre-blend that starts disrupting the pacing.

Welcome To The Jungle is chaotic, incoherent and sometimes, you also end up feeling that there’s no method to this madness. It’s loud, ludicrous and rattling, reminding you of the slapstick humour we frequently watched in the 1990s and the 2000s. But it’s this nostalgia and utter pandemonium that form the crux of this caper. It further believes in its CGI gorilla, nudging you to give in to its folly.

Akshay leads the film effortlessly, bringing his trademark comic timing and anchoring the madness with a performance that’s all about excess. He’s clearly in his comfort zone. And if you thought Welcome To The Jungle has enough characters and more, enters Akshay 2.0. Yes, after Bhooth Bangla, he whips up a double role yet again.

His banter with the likes of Suniel Shetty (Anna), Paresh Rawal (Das) and Rajpal Yadav (Dev) is sure to evoke a chuckle or two and fortunately or unfortunately, he seems to be in better sync with and share a better chemistry with them as opposed to Disha Patani, who plays Nadia. There’s an awkwardness in his scenes with Raveena and you would find yourself rooting for them.

As for the rest of the cast, Jacqueline, Disha, Lara Dutta, Aftab Shivdasani, Tusshar Kapoor and Daler Mehndi get the shorter end of the stick. But it is Farida Jalal and Kiran Kumar, who surprise you with their impeccable comic timing. With one speaking gibberish and the other mouthing the most difficult version of Urdu, you’ll find yourself rolling in laughter every time they converse.

Farida lights up the frame with her presence and steals the show every time she appears in it. Spoiler alert: she’s even seen seducing a terrorist at one point. Kiran and she remain the strongest links of the film. And then there’s the trio of Puneet Issar, Pankaj Dheer and Sudesh Berry, who take you down the memory lane, revising their characters from BR Chopra’s Mahabharat.

Jackie Shroff, on the other hand, appears as Zatara. And while he looks the part of a Mujahideen leader, this is a zone we’ve seen him sinking his teeth into far too many times. The same can be said about Johnny Lever. And even when nothing makes sense and you find yourself questioning why, what and how, Welcome To The Jungle impresses you because of its unapologetic commitment to its own madness.

You don’t know how a bunch of flop actors suddenly fight a group of terrorists and free Indian villagers from their clutch. You don’t know how they suddenly become deft in wielding guns. You don’t know why the women behave in the way they do. You don’t know why people lose their voices each time they get excited. You don’t know why a visually impaired DoP gets to shoot a film.

And you don’t know why most people have fluency disorders. And circling back to its meta references, the makers don’t shy away from taking potshots at actors, their tantrums, their entourage and them feigning shock at paparazzi swarming them despite tipping them off first. Kudos to Akshay for playing along! This is classic guilty pleasure cinema.

Basically, Welcome To The Jungle throws everything at the wall, right from meta humour, slapstick and nostalgia to action and gibberish, and somehow, enough of it sticks. There’s nothing that lies beneath the noise and it may not make sense, but then again, sense was never really the point. It works best when you surrender to its wild, logic-defying energy and simply go along for the ride.

A massive cast, emphasis on entertainment, visually striking songs, big-screen action, and a few pleasant surprises – #WTTJ has it all.

The biggest achievement of director Ahmed Khan is managing such a massive cast... Pulling off a film of this scale is no easy feat, and the effort is visible on screen.

However, Ahmed attempts to pack every ingredient imaginable into the narrative, and that's where the film stumbles... The post-interval portions lack the sparkle and energy that make the first half so enjoyable.

Despite the gigantic cast, it's #AkshayKumar who drives the film... Playing to the gallery, his impeccable comic timing emerges as one of the film's major strengths.

#SunielShetty and #ArshadWarsi are effective in their respective parts... #PareshRawal, #RajpalYadav, and #ShreyasTalpade – the on-screen movie-makers – contribute several genuinely funny moments, while #JohnyLever remains dependable as ever.

The sequences involving the Azadganj villagers – #RaveenaTandon, #FaridaJalal, and #KiranKumar – are thoroughly entertaining... All three are terrific.

Both #DishaPatani and #JacquelineFernandez get limited scope and don't have much to do... #JackieShroff, as the antagonist, makes his presence felt.

The cameo appearances by stars from a hugely popular TV show bring back a strong sense of nostalgia.

The dialogues are genuinely hilarious at several places, while the soundtrack turns out to be a mixed bag.

Welcome To The Jungle is packed with references, nostalgia and several hidden surprises. Revealing them would take away from the fun of experiencing them on the big screen.

The biggest strength of the film is that it understands the audience’s love for old-school entertainers. The comedy stays clean, situational and effortless instead of becoming loud or forced. The humour comes from the madness of the situations and the chemistry between the characters.

Akshay Kumar once again proves why he remains one of Bollywood’s biggest action stars. The action sequences are spectacularly choreographed and some moments genuinely make you wonder if you are watching Khatron Ke Khiladi instead of a comedy film.
The camaraderie between Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Arshad Warsi is easily one of the highlights. Their chemistry brings back memories of the iconic Hera Pheri universe and is far more entertaining than many of the romantic tracks.

There are two ways to look at Ahmed Khan’s new film Welcome To The Jungle. It’s the third film in the Welcome franchise. We get glimpses of Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar’s hysterical and historic characters that are etched in the vitality of pop culture. The second way is the endless possibilities the ensemble of 32 actors can offer. There are more surprises in store and in the story once you see this madness unfold on celluloid. We get memories of Mahabharata and Phir Hera Pheri and even Jolly LLB. But we could have had much more, right from Border to Mohra to Tropic Thunder. How about referencing a film you supposedly sought inspiration from? But the film is much better than what the trailer offered. And the credit for that goes to the sheer commitment of everyone involved to deliver no-holds-barred content.

Fake films are a thing of yore. _Welcome To The Jungle_ is the fourth guest at a bar. Welcome, Tees Maar Khan, and Dhoondte Reh Jaooge have already arrived and ordered three bottles of beer. But Ahmed Khan’s film will have double whisky with soda. It will leave no stones unturned to be as intoxicated as possible. This is the kind of a guest who will bite more than he can chew and then create a scene in front of everybody. And make absolutely no bones about it. The one word that can be used to describe the third film in the franchise is unabashed. This is a comedy that pushes all the buttons and goes in all directions with a sense of recklessness and refuses to breathe even after going bonkers and berserk.
The one major problem with the film is that the first half and the second half feel like two completely different entities. There are references of _Dhurandhar_ nobody reacts to, how most of the Bollywood celebrities call the paparazzi themselves and pretend to look surprised when they click them. The leading man gets the best scene of the film out of this puerile but potent practice. Kumar, in fact, drives the insouciance of the story through the bumpy ride. The second half is about how a bunch of cohorts turn cheerleaders and messiah for a village inhabited by eccentric and entertaining characters.
The intentional haminess feels a hoot until the gargantuan ensemble gets exhausted with incessantly long gags. The innocuousness of the narrative needed to be more jubilant than jaded. The madness of the metaness and the expected easter eggs illicit smiles due to the unapologetic silliness. But _Welcome To The Jungle_ is not satisfied by just being a comedy. Ahmed Khan has other plans in store. He should have never taken out that rabbit out of his hat. All of a sudden, we feel the plot has been hijacked by the spirit of Baaghi and all that was needed was Tiger Shroff to join the gang and battle his own father Jackie Shroff, who’s the antagonist of the story. That could have been a cool meta moment as well. But no such surprises here.Creating a cocktail of chaos and commentary isn’t a clever idea, especially if the shots are being called by Ahmed Khan. An ode to Bajrangi Bhaijaan feels more implausible than intentional. The melodramatic mayhem juxtaposed with the slapstick hilarity of the leading man could be acquired taste. But the audacity of writer Farhad Samji and his director is almost appalling. The script idea belongs to the ingenuous Neeraj Vora. The spiritedness of his inspiration is precisely why almost all the actors get their moment of glory.

Farida Jalal walks away with top honours and so does Akshay Kumar who can now play to the gallery in his sleep. Suniel Shetty and Arshad Warsi, and even the perpetually lost and limp Jacqueline Fernandez nonchalantly throw themselves into the rigmarole of copious preposterousness. But Welcome To The Jungle works more than it doesn’t due to its self-awareness. It’s a film that fully commits to its idiocy. It stops at nothing. It halts at nothing. We may not take back anything. But a smile amid the time of gloom also works if you can’t entirely guffaw.
