Garfield gears up for a wild outdoor adventure when an unexpected reunion with his long-lost father, Vic, takes an amusing turn. Garfield and Odie must leave their pampered lifestyle behind to join Vic in a high-stakes heist.

Director Mark Dindal pulls off the unthinkable and the im‘pawsible’: convincing the lazy brat, Garfield, to embark on a daring escapade with his newfound father, Vic, and his friend and ‘unpaid intern,’ Odie. The movie takes you on a mad-fun ride with seriously cool animation that’s cartoonish like creator Jim Davis’s comic strip yet slick like the silver-screen outing regaling the viewers these days. What’s more, the animation is not hyper-real like the modern ones, which makes the movie all the more charming. Yet, there are awe-striking visuals.

Garfield and Odie get whisked away on a hilarious heist to steal mountains of milk for Vic's ex-partner, the villainous Jinx (Hannah Waddingham). The film throws some truly outrageous sequences and quirky characters your way.

The movie’s premise itself is pretty generic. While the comedy mostly hits the mark, some scenes and gags don’t land. Fans of the original comics might miss the trademark Garfield energy and snark—his signature cynical wit makes only fleeting appearances here. “Garfield and Tom Cruise do their own stunts,” says the star cat, or he adopted Jon (Nicholas Hoult) and let him have a pet (Odie)! The absence of other beloved comic characters like Arlene, Binky, or Nermal is another sore point here.

Written by Paul A Kaplan, Mark Torgove, and David Reynolds, the animated outing has something for young audiences and adults alike. The rib-tickling scenes and emotional sequences, as Garfield discovers why Vic abandoned him (and if he really did), are beautifully done. One also gets a glimpse of at Garfield’s origins—how he came to be with Jon.

Chris Pratt and Samuel L Jackson are beyond perfect as the fluffy tabby and his scruffy street cat dad. Nicholas Hoult is good as Jon Arbuckle, but Hannah Waddingham is the most energetic and charismatic as Jinx. While Ving Rhames as Otto, Brett Goldstein as Roland, and Bowen Yang as Nolan are worthy additions, Snoop Dogg as Snoop Catt in his brief voice role deserves mention.

'The Garfield Movie' is a fun-filled ride with stunning visuals and a charming cast. While it might not quite capture the full Garfield experience for die-hard fans, it offers a delightful cinematic adventure for audiences of all ages!

‘The Garfield Movie’ brings back the humour of Jim Davis’ comic strip and late 80s-90s TV show, ‘Garfield and Friends’. Times have changed, but Garfield remains relatable. He hates Monday, loves eating and has a peculiar sense of humour. Director Mark Dindal attempts to adapt this into a film, but does this work in this world where Gen X and Gen Z dominate the pop lingo?

In this new Garfield movie, you see him reunite with his long-lost father, a scruffy street cat Vic, who draws him into an adventurous ride, which is a high-stakes heist. So, together, Garfield, his dad and Odie join hands with a few new additional characters who perfectly fit the shoes of characters like Norman.

The fun part of ‘The Garfield Movie’ is that it remains true to the characters and the time it comes from, thereby invoking a lot of nostalgia. The highlight of the film continues to be the unruly chemistry between Garfield and his dad. All the fun is amplified with a background score that matches the mood of the scene and top-class animation. The villains and antagonists are designed in a way to provide perfect laughs, and you don’t want to miss it.

However, the film doesn’t move on from the yesteryear comedy pattern which might not land in today’s time. While scenes involving violent banter between Garfield and his dad might look funny in the late 80s, today, it might not really pass the ‘vibe’ check for the younger generation.

Chris Pratt as Garfield is so enjoyable. He has a peculiar sense of humour himself, and it translates well with the voice of Garfield. Alongside him, you have the likes of Samuel L Jackson, Hannah Waddingham, Ving Rhames, Nicholas Hoult, Cecily Strong, Harvey Guillén, Brett Goldstein, Bowen Yang, and Snoop Dogg giving voice to pivotal roles.

‘Garfield The Movie’ is overall quite a laughter riot. Watch it with a sense of abandonment to have maximum fun.

The Garfield Movie is a total joy ride. It is very witty, hilarious and meta. The homage that the film pays to various classics is just outstanding and it will bring a wide smile on your face. Obviously, the animation is first rate. The voice dubbing is terrific. What works in the movie's favour is just how unserious it is. Also, The Garfield Movie is paced so well that you don't get time to go deep and pick on anything in particular.

It's not like The Garfield Movie is flawless but as mentioned above, it is paced so well that you don't get time to critically analyse everything. The plot obviously gets silly and bizarre but you buy it all because it is just so much fun and because it doesn't take itself too seriously.

All the voice artists in the movie, from Chris Pratt to Samuel L Jackson, Hannah Waddingham, Ving Rhames do a great job with the dubbing. They make the movie all the more delightful.

The Garfield Movie is a total joyride. It is hilarious and witty. You can watch this enjoyable movie, now playing in theatres.
